❓
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a decimal as the multiplier?
▼
Yes. The multiplier accepts any positive number including decimals. For example, entering 2.5 multiplies your time by two and a half — so 1 hour becomes 2 hours 30 minutes. This is useful for scaling time estimates proportionally rather than in whole repetitions.
What do the Display Settings checkboxes do?
▼
The checkboxes let you show or hide individual time units — Hours, Minutes, Seconds, and Milliseconds. If you're only working with hours and minutes (like a work schedule), you can uncheck Seconds and Milliseconds to simplify the interface. The calculator only uses the visible fields in its calculation.
How does the calculator handle carry-over between units?
▼
Automatically. If the result produces more than 59 minutes or 59 seconds, the calculator carries the overflow into the next unit. For example, multiplying 45 minutes × 3 gives 135 minutes, which is correctly displayed as 2 hours and 15 minutes — no manual conversion needed.
What is "Total Hours" in the results?
▼
Total Hours expresses your entire result as a single decimal number. For instance, 2 hours and 30 minutes becomes 2.50 total hours. This format is especially useful for payroll, client invoicing, or any system where time needs to be entered as a single continuous figure rather than hours and minutes separately.
Can I multiply time by a number less than 1?
▼
Yes. A multiplier less than 1 (like 0.25 or 0.5) reduces the duration proportionally. Multiplying 2 hours by 0.5 gives 1 hour. This is useful when you need a fraction of a known duration — for example, calculating a quarter of a standard shift or a half-speed estimate.
